Body of Work: WOman
Body of Work: Women brought together 17 female and gender diverse artists to explore ideas of femininity and reflections on experiences of being a woman. Body of Work highlighted the beauty and grace of womanhood, while also drawing on themes of sorrow, loss and pain. The audience was invited to reflect on their own experiences of womanhood or explore their assumptions about the female experience. Our artists worked across mediums, including photography, painting, sculpture, ceramics and jewellery making.

Light will invite artists to explore the emotional landscapes of hope, resilience, and transformation. Through diverse artistic mediums and techniques, each piece reflects personal and collective journeys of persevering through adversity. The exhibit will celebrate the power of creativity to uncover silver linings, offering viewers a space to reflect, heal, and connect. We hope the exhibit will encourage a dialogue around the beauty of endurance and the light that can emerge from even the darkest moments.

As Castaway Collective creative endeavour lead by two female creatives with ongoing health challenges, we wanted to explore conceptualisations of disability and the experience of chronic illness through art. Art can be an incredibly healing, therapeutic and expressive practice, providing a practice which allows us to process grief, reconnect with our bodies and mind, and feel calmer.
